19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first title for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.
Now collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.
It is his first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt since March of that year.
The win also means Medvedev has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented ranked player the champion.
"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, featuring in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to question if his capacity to play at the top level was concluded.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.
Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the last five games to go ahead.
The competitors traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a third set.
He defended 4 early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to 15 to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
